Duvet Cover Making
Are you thinking of making your own duvet cover? Well this article has been written just for you. Just take a note pad and a pen and read through this article right to the end.
There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. My focus will be on just one specific one. Now here is my advice. Two things, look for a washable material and (2) make sure it does offer some decorative appeal. light weight material is usually more appealing. Of course you need to take the weather and climatic conditions of your area into consideration.
Start by choosing two lengths of fabric spanning about 54 inches. You can even make it a bit wider. You will be using these for the front part. Be sure that the panels are the same size as the measurements of the length as mentioned earlier.
-Look for fabric that is a home decorator. These should be about 54 inches wide that is able to cover a duvet cover to 104 inches wide. If you duvet is wider then make them wider as well. if you do have a wider duvet you can just purchase another panel of material.
-The next thing to consider is prints and patterns. depending on the type of prints you will go for some adjustments may be necessary. for instance, you may have to make your panels longer.
-The next step is to pre-wash and then iron the material.
-Now simply fold the front panel in half lengthwise.
-You may need to use an iron to make some sharp creases at the folds. Once you’ve done the ironing you may then unfold the fabric.
-you will have to do this to the panels at the back too.
-Draw a line that goes right down along the length of the panel where the crease is. Do this using a yard stick and also get yourself a fabric marking pen to do this with ease.
-Cut out each line to make six panels. That is, three shall be on the back side and then 3 for the front of the duvet cover.
-Now the next step on your project of making a duvet cover is to simply pin one panel that’s narrow to one part of the visible side or front rather that is uncut. Make sure that is it is pinned such that all fabric edges are lined up & the sides of the fabric are also together.
What I have just said will take you miles ahead in your duvet cover making. Yes there might be a few more steps to go but then it is all up to you how you want to wrap it all up and make one that will suite just your taste and style.
