How to Customize Each Bedroom in the House Using Quilts
No matter what time of the year or the budget you're working with, a new down comforter, handmade quilt, or wool blanket can transform a room from boring to beautiful. These seemingly simple embellishments can be used as the basis for redecorating your common areas and bedrooms. That's right; bedding sets can do more for us than taking away a chill! With only a small amount of money and a keen eye, you can make every room in your home unique and inviting.
Plan Around the Seasons
First, choose the material that you want your comforter, bed quilt, or wool blanket to be made from. Darker materials and heavier coverings should reflect the appropriate time of year and are reserved for the colder and darker months while lighter materials and brighter colors are used during summer and spring. Goosedown is a perfect filler for a bed covering on a cold night and helps you and your houseguests to feel warm and cozy, no matter how treacherous the weather might be outside. a lighter cover-up for the bed is perfect for the spring and summer nights.
Making a Dramatic Change with Little Impact on Your Wallet
If you're working with a tight budget, you can still make any room look like you hired a professional decorator. The best accompaniments to a new comforter or handmade quilt is a new coat of paint and some decorative pillows is a coat of beautiful paint in the room and new decorative pillow accents}. To change the paint on the walls, a small investment of only about $25 is needed. Compliment your new bed coverings with a wall color that is a complimentary hue, but not a precise match. When you force everything to match, it makes makes everything look like it's the same color, which is boring. Nevertheless, if you choose a color for your walls that is in the same color family, but not the exact same hue as the color scheme of the bedding and pillows, the room will really pop. You can find trimmed out pillows to accent your furniture for less than you think! Check online for sets of multiple pillows that will go with your color scheme and you'll save a ton of money by buying them in bulk amounts.
Every Room Can be Made Extra Special
Finally, buy luxurious sheets to accompany your bed set. If you bought a set that came with sheets already, purchase a spare set for each room in a similar color to keep the room looking fresh and new all year long. You can dress up a sofa with a chenille throw or thin, satiny blanket and it will double as a cozy cover-up on a chilly night. A handmade quilt that is a family heirloom can be a wonderful opportunity to remember someone you love by hanging their creation on a wall. With a little TLC and a small budget, you can effortlessly make any bedroom, guest room, or common area into something extra special.

In the span of weeks, a friend of mine who shall remain nameless (but goes by
the initials Elinor Mills) has become completely addicted to the photo-sharing
app Instagram. The world has become one big Instagram photo opp for her as she
points her iPhone at flowers, friends, train tracks, oil-slicked sidewalks,
and anything else in her path--and still tries to get some shut-eye now and
then.
This self-portrait, my favorite of Elinor's Instagram creations, would make a
magnificent pillow. (Click to enlarge.)

Happily, I've come upon Stitchtagram, a service that makes custom handmade
throw pillows from Instagram photos, and now feel confident that Elinor can
stay close to her beloved app even while she rests up between Instagram
shoots.
The process is simple. You design a pillow by arranging your favorite
Instagram photos using Stitchtagram's layout tool. Stitchtagram then prints
the digital pics on a linen-cotton canvas and attaches it to a dark... [Read
