Summer 101: From Golf Equipment to Discount Camping Equipment, You're Covered

Even with many of us are dealing with a tight budget, summer is here and the children are ready for some boredom-busting activities. However, it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg in order to keep them busy and having fun.  Superb memories are often created from simplicity, great company, and some imagination. Here are a few great tips for summer enjoyment while making fond memories that will last forever.

Throw a party with a theme. This is a fun thing to do for kids and grown-ups too. Visit your budget party shop or area thrift store and get some themed ornaments that go with the warm weather and laid-back feel. A luau is the most obvious choice.  How about some luau cups and paper plates to eat on and some faux grass skirts and leis? Wall and table décor options are endless at the discount party stores, use your creativity and make it feel like you've retreated to a tropical place where tikis fill the land and where no one has a care in the world!

Go on a camping trip. You can find some great camping equipment at second-hand stores. Many people buy tents, stoves, etc. and then only use them once or twice before donating them or having a yard sale. This is a great way to get gear for camping at a huge discount. If you prefer new camping equipment, check out online discounters and buy closeouts for the best deals. You can purchase camping permits at your local camping areas for little money. You can even set up a mock campsite in your back yard! Don't leave out the graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate!

Get a tee time at a local golf course. Playing golf is one of the best ways for children to exercise their hand to eye movement.  It's easy to find golf clubs; you can lease it at a local golf course, purchase it online, or buy second-hand. Putt-putt golf is particularly fun for the little ones because the course is chock-full of themed holes that the younger kids love! The cost is usually not too expensive too.

Visit your local YMCA or community center. They not only have swimming pools to keep everyone cool on those miserably hot summer days, but they often have tennis courts and other planned activities for the kids. This is a great way to get the youngsters challenged physically and staying active.  A Wilson tennis racket can be purchased for almost nothing at a yard sale and can bring hours of joy!  If you want something new, try a sports supplier or discount Web site who will likely have great deals

Buy an above-ground swimming pool. For about $100, you can purchase a standing pool that will surely be a hit with the kids for the entire summer! It can be a great way to bring their friends together in one place while giving them fun for hours and cooling off. Summer is the time to get the best deals on seasonal items, so check online and in your local discount stores for sales on these great items! The best part is that you don't need a bunch of space outside in order to make a great swimming area.

In spite of the limitations of a tight budget, you can still make the best out of this year's summer break! Try these tips out and create some more of your own. With creativity and time, you can have a few months of relaxation and good times that will be remembered for a very long time!

What do you call an outdoor area surrounded by walls?

I think it has a specific name, but it escapes for the moment.

To explain it better, it's basically like, a building, that has a door that leads to an area surrounded on all sides by walls, but it's outside. :D

In horticultural terms, it's an Enclave.
