Overhangs which are usually placed over doors and windows can also be placed on areas to cover sidewalks, decks and patios. Make them into a real cover by adding columns. Main entrances and sliding glass doors or double French doors that open to a terrace, porch or deck looks nice with an overhang. These can turn an external area into a pleasant working spot that may be used to entertain with a picnic table and chairs or have chairs or a glider to enjoy the outdoors while having a cover overhead to dam vicious sunlight. It makes it pleasant to be outside when it's raining. Makes a great outside shelter.
