Watersports Excursions: Cheap Holidays In Greece
Beautiful clear crisp water make this the perfect destination for watersports activities. There are now many cheap holidays in Greece available that can be organised entirely around watersports.
Beaches are perfect if all you want is a cooling swim to escape from the overbearing heat, and it's just a 20 minute walk from the town centre. It's good to know that on Greece holidays swimming is allowed at any public beach. There are also pebble beaches for the windier days.
Santorini is full of watersports activities, and it is a popular tourist destination. Scuba diving and snorkelling activities are available for people that are at any level - and more experienced divers can go 14 metres down to see a shipwreck next to the volcano. The water here is crystal clear, and there are several caverns and reefs to be explored.
Those wanting a more civilised experience of the sea can take one of the many cruises that leave from Athens to islands around the country (even to Turkey). Some will combine city tours with excursions to Mykonos, Paros, and Syros. Taking place every June, the Vassiliki Watersports Festival is the biggest in Greece, with windsurfing, sailing and mountain biking competitions alongside beach parties, live bands, and cultural events.
For windsurfing, yachting, and white-water activities, head to the Peloponnese, where several established providers are on-hand to teach tourists the ropes. The most scenic beaches on Mykonos are found on the southern coast, with swimming, snorkelling, diving and kite surfing. Head to the West coast for the largest variety of things to do, and check with your hotel for activity programs. The quiet, rocky beaches of Rhodes are the perfect place for boating and watersports.
Falikari beach offers a great range of watersports activities. You can go on banana boat trip, paragliding, windsurfing and wakeboarding. Lessons are available in all these sports for the novice, while the expert is free to explore the island’s many coastal features. You can tie a variety of experiences into one trip as the archipelagos and settlements are evenly distributed across the country. The beauty about holidays in Greece is that the traveller is not tied to one destination. You have the freedom to explore as much as you wish!
Is the "Seventeen mile Drive" up by Pebble Beach and Monterey, California worth going to see?
I sorry for asking this travel question in this category, but I asked twice in the travel section and got no response.
We are headed near there and we are thinking of riding bikes through it, then staying overnight.
Someone once told me it is very unsafe to ride bikes on that route because of looky-loo tourists in cars.
Can we rent bikes there?
Any knowledge of the area will be appreciated.
Especially good places to stay?
Thank you.
Others have given you good information regarding one of California's most beautiful drives. I read your profile and notice you are a writer. Have you been to the Jack London State Historic Park? It is in Glen Ellen and it is worth the trip to Sonoma and The Valley of The Moon to visit. The ruins of Wolf House, which he built with his wife are there. They never lived in the house because it burned just after the stone building was completed.
I know you will enjoy the 17 mile drive. It is worth the effort, however you choose to travel.
