Different Options in Wood Shutters
Basswood is the wood of choice for most wood house shutters. Not only is it durable and able to withstand severe weather from arctic blasts to equatorial monsoons, but it is also reasonably priced and attractive both inside and outside your house. Even though there are other hardwoods used to make shutters, basswood is the number one choice when it comes to wooden shutters. Another alternative is vinyl house shutters.
Interior shutters are usually very straight and have a smooth surface. Unlike different kinds of wood that have very obvious graining, basswood has a less visible grain, making it the best option for outside and inside shutters, particularly for people who prefer a smooth, near-opaque look but like to see the wood itself instead of paint.
Basswood is lightweight enough to handle and install easily, yet tough enough to stand up to the extreme heat or cold. When you purchase interior window shutters, they more often than not are made of basswood. There are several different woods used to make shutters, and you can read more about them here:
Oak
Oak is an especially elegant wood and is very heavy. Oak also shows an obvious grain. Because oak is so stout, it is not the ideal material for interior wooden shutters as it can add pressure to the window jambs. Many people also do not care for the grainy look of oak, yet oak is not easily painted. Oak remains a popular choice of wood for shutters, just not the best choice.
Maple
Maple is also a golden colored, heavy wood that makes great furnishings but can be fairly high maintenance when it is used for shutters. Because maple is particularly hard, the jambs must be drilled separately from the shutters, an operation which requires careful measuring. Maple interior shutters are heavy, like oak, and can wear down the window jambs. Another good choice is vinyl house shutters.
Cedar
Cedar is a very strong hardwood that takes stain nicely. Cedar wood is fairly light which results in it being an agreeable material when it comes to interior wooden shutters. Unlike oak or maple, cedar shutters will not damage the window jamb. On the other hand, cedar is more easily dented than heavier woods and can have need of replacement.
Poplar
Because poplar is mineral-laden and has a grey-green hue, it looks better when painted instead of stained. For many people, the attraction of wooden shutters is the look of real wood. Most people don’t care for poplar because they would rather not have to paint the wood. Painting generally has to be done much more routinely than staining. As a consequence, poplar, although cheaper than the other woods, is not very popular when it comes to vinyl house shutters.
School Uniform???? Pleaseeee....?
How can I individualise my school uniform.? They're very strict tho you'ree not even allowed a colour hairband other than black O.o I copy it to help
Girls (Years 7-11)
Skirt or trouser Plain black
Shirt White with collar
Blazer Black, incorporating the Academy name and logo
Tie Royal blue with gold stripe
Outdoor Coat Black reversible
Shoes Plain black with no decoration (flat ow low heeled)
Socks or tights Plain black or nude
Black Academy bag Must be able to fit an A4 folder in
Academies and private schools are pretty strict. You really cannot individualize your uniform.
So, make yourself special in other ways.
You can control your hairstyle (within their guidelines).
You did not mention earrings (simple)
Nail polish (prob no nail polish or light colors only allowed?).
Wear special underwear -what they do not know won't hurt them.
Fancy bras - again that you can't see through the shirt.
Gold neck chain..
Girls at our school wear shorts underneath.
How about a cool watch?
Can you get on Student Council, or become a /student rep? Start a petition to see if maybe a sweater-maybe royal blue- (or whatever) in the school colors?
