Spa Cap Cover: Finding The Right Kind Of Spa Cover
Spa dealers these days offer rigid foam cover with a taper. The rationale behind this is that the sloped shape prevents the foam from being saturated due to rain and moisture. The question is: Does this work? Well it does protect the spa cover from the rain and moisture. But rain and moisture do not cause the foam to saturate.
If you want to prove it yourself, you can do a simple experiment on the new rigid foam spa cover with a taper. Buy a new rigid foam spa cover then carefully weigh it upon reaching home. A hanging weight is most accurate and simple to read. Take note of the weight and record the date. Then put it on your spa and put a tarp over the whole spa to make sure that no rain or outside moisture gets to your new hot tub cover.
If you weigh the cover once a week and record it with the date, you will be able to monitor when the cover begins to saturate. You wouldn’t easily notice the change in your cover but the scale won’t lie. So if you are protecting your spa to be totally free from rain water, why is still getting heavy?
The fact is that moisture does not enter the foam from outside. It is the steam from underneath the spa cover that gets into the foam. Steam particles are much smaller than the rain and it can get through the smallest hole. Considering that warm water of the spa is a constant source of evaporating water, it will always find its way into the spaces in the foam. And so, the only way to avoid having your spa covers from being saturated is to never put it on your spa or never put water in your spa. But that would be illogical.
Saturation makes the spa cover more difficult to use. Thus it is important that the air spaces in the foam have insulation value. Once the tiny air spaces are filled with water, a rigid spa cover insulates the moisture from soaking the foam. It shields water like a wet piece of plywood. When the foam spa cover begins to absorb the moisture, the little insulation it did offer goes down dramatically.
But fret no more as there is a solution for this; you should buy two or three hot tub covers to have a spare drying out in your garage. If the foam spa cover isn't over the evaporation water, it will typically begin to dry out and become light again. You can put it back to the hot tub to let the other spa cover dry again. Apparently, this option is only practical if you have the time to replace and dry the spa covers every now and then.
Of course the other solution for this is to search for SpaCap spa covers. Many innovative methods have been tried to make sure that spa cap last longer than the other spa covers available in today's market.
Hoekstra Blames Everyone but Himself for the Deficits He Voted for (Juan Cole)
It is hard to decide what is the most despicable thing about senatorial
Republican hopeful Pete Hoekstra's Superbowl ad attacking rival Democratic
Senator Debbie Stabenow. The ad has a Chinese young woman speaking broken
English and gloating about the indebtedness of the US to China and the export
of US jobs to China. Given the [...]
