The Best Tents For The Outdoors
Tents are typically regarded as transient shelter for recreational uses, but many of us around the planet still live in what seem to be tents all of the time, permanently . All round the year, whether winter or summer, these special structures house full families against the elements. In the steppes of Mongolia and Central Asia, nomadic races still use felt-covered wood lattice yurts for homes. They are like tents that may be pitched anytime, anywhere, and yet are loads more roomy and strong, such that they can stand permanently if it is required, as indeed many do these days when some steppe peoples no longer follow huge herds around and are essentially settled down in one place.
Speaking technically, a yurt is not quite a tent, though likenesses abound much more than do differences. Tents conjure certain photographs that yurts do not. For a start, a camping tent is usually non-permanent and typically practical, while yurts and tepees, a slightly similar dwelling of certain native american tribes, are supposed to endure as sole abodes of their inhabitants. Indeed, we do not speak of a tent's inhabitants - not as such, anyhow - while with yurts and tepees it is wholly reasonable to do so.
These structures are in several ways much more home-like than any tent can be, though a selection of tents do exist on the market now such as backpacking tent. Till rather recently, for example, tents did not sometimes have windows or openings to allow smoke to escape, while yurts and tepees do because cooking is predicted to be done within them, indoors.
Still, some characteristics may continue to be different between these sorts of structures and tents. Owing to their almost completely different purposes, tents don't have walls as thick as those of yurts and tepees, as an example. Fans in the West have adapted the yurt and expanded on its concepts to create new kinds of dwelling, often made with modern hitech materials. They're also not typically meant to be moved frequently and some are built to be permanent structures and practically immobile.
Wedding ideas for area of reception room?
my reception location has a large hooded stove in the middle of the room. its copper and about the size of a normal-sized car. it is shaped like a tent-shelter. so ... 4 posts and a roof (the hood). I have no idea how to decorate it and make it look nice for the wedding. my colors are silver, navy, pink, and green (green will be ONLY in plant work).
Any ideas for a quick fix that doesn't cost much?
if the stove is not goin to be used during the reception, maybe get some tulle or garland (decorated with trinkets, bows, or flowers with your colors) and dress it up a bit...but don't go over board b/c then it will become the center attraction or maybe just use some lights.
good luck!!
