Create Ambiance with Patio Lights
You may be considering updating or adding a new outdoor patio area to your home. Don’t forget the patio lights. Patio lights are not only functional but can compliment or complete your outdoor patio design. They provide ambiance and romance to this outdoor space. They can also provide an element of security to your yard and home.
There is nothing quite as satisfying as coming home from work and having a relaxing meal on your custom patio with beautiful and creative patio lights. Cook your meal in your outdoor patio kitchen that has been properly lit for peak safety and performance.
If you find you do not have enough light or that you want to add a bit of excitement to your outdoor space, carefully consider those areas. Do you have an area just for kids? Do you mostly use the area for eating or cooking? Do you have points of interest that you want to draw attention to? Do you have danger areas that need to be highlighted to prevent accidents? Do you want to create a romantic spa like experience?
Patio lights are available in a multitude of styles and functionality. Whether you have a comfortable and cozy cottage or Victorian mansion you will find just what you need. By carefully choosing the style you can compliment your existing design or you may want to create a whole new flavor.
A couple of main areas to be concerned with are the pathway and step leading to your terrace or deck. For the protection of your guests and to prevent accidents these areas should be adequately illuminated. There are energy saving lights that can be installed in or near the steps or pathways that will automatically come on when the sun goes down.
There are also portable patio lights that can be set up in minutes to add extra lighting for special occasions. One such it is fueled by propane. This type of lighting has an open flame much like a Tiki torch but without the messy oil. It can provide you hours of enjoyment and add a romantic feel to your patio area.
By installing attractive patio lights that emphasize and draw attention to your patio or terrace can add curb appeal and value to your home. If you have special architectural features that you want to show off aim a light directly upwards or towards it.
Before purchasing patio lights, look around your yard and patio area at night. This will help you see the areas that may need extra light for safety reasons or other areas that may need a light shining upwards to highlight a tree. If you are not sure where to begin you may have to enlist the help of a patio and garden design expert. You may have a friend or neighbor who has a gift for this type of design and planning that can also help with some constructive advice.
Your home is a reflection of your values and personality. Patio lights are add or detract from the overall look of your home. Involve every member of your household when designing the lighting for this area. Their ideas may astound you. Finally, have fun with this project.
How can I shade my back yard patio for a party?
I have a 12 x 24 patio that is in direct sunlight all day. Im looking into permanent options, but I am having a party in a couple of weeks and am looking into a way to shade it. Renting a tent is too expensive and I cant rent a canopy because i cant put a pole in the middle. Looking for a creative inexpensive way to shade the area. Thanks
Home Depot sells a canopy type top its used for shading flower beds ets They come in different sizes so you should be able to get one that closely matches the size of your patio. I saw it in the out door area.
Attach on side to your house you can nail it or screw it into the part just under your roof where the wood is. and when the gutter attaches to if you have one. Find a good way to attach it as for the other side you will have to get a little creative. get some poles and make a frame to attach the other end to the ground say 8' high attach the poles together to make a frame to the ground accross the top and back to the ground at a slight angle. pointing away from the house. You can use PVC Pipe its cheap and should only cost you about $15 for the pipe plus the cost of the shader.
the shader is in the outside area in home depot. should cost around $30
Here is the URL and they sell it in stores too
